Featuring floating indices for quite a long time, minutes, and seconds put on clear disks over its dial, the Astrographic was designed by Zodiac in 1969 during the height of the space race — a period of technological innovation culminating into the historic Apollo 11 lunar landing.
The original Astrographic – 1969
In celebration of the piece’s 50th anniversary, Zodiac dispatched two Astrographic Automatic Limited Editions precisely reproducing the cutting edge molded case – measuring 40 mm x 43 mm – and utilization of floating disks to read a clock instead of traditional watch hands.
The first edition, ref. ZO6606, comes in a brushed stainless steel case with blue dial and cream minute track while the subsequent model, ref. ZO6607, is characterized by a PVD gold covered case with matching dial.
The development of choice is an automatic caliber, delivered by Fossil Group’s STP (Swiss Technology Production), beating at 28,800 vibrations each hour and offering 44 hours of force save.
The two editions of the new Zodiac Astrographic Automatic are limited to 182 pieces worldwide and have a price of US$ 1,295. zodiacwatches.com
