Soberly Onyx is the name of the first watch designed and made by the independent watchmaker Raúl Pagès situated in Les Brenets, Switzerland.
The 40 mm x 9.30 mm case made from white gold houses a 2.5 Hz (18,000 vph) hand-wound development dependent on a vintage Cyma 586K caliber from the 1950’s that is entirely modified and finished by hand.
The 13.30 mm balance wheel is inspired to the huge equilibrium wheels found in high end pocket watches from the 19th century. Its constructions follows George Daniels’ principles, including a carefully assembled variable-inertia four arms offset with gold regulating masselottes, blued free sprung balance-spring, fine tuning of the entire regulating framework with Philipps terminal bend.
The dark iced finish of the main plate beautifully diverges from the hand polished points made using traditional watchmaking strategies and devices.
The dark onyx dial, completed by hand tailored white gold indexes and solidified steel hands, gives the timepiece a rich and some way or another mysterious look evoking the style of the Art Deco time.
Delivered in a limited edition of only 10 pieces, the Raúl Pagès Soberly Onyx has a price of Swiss Francs 48,000. pageswatches.com
