Named after 18th century British explorer Captain James Cook and reinterpreting a past collection from the 1960s, the new HyperChrome Captain Cook family presented by Rado at Baselworld 2017 includes models for the two men and women.
Curiously large indexes treated with white Super-LumiNova, chunky bolt shaped hands, a rotating bezel in innovative clay and stainless steel or titanium cases give the Captain Cook a sporty tasteful with a retro touch. Accessible sizes are two: 37 mm and 45 mm.
The initial 37 mm model sports a dark innovative clay bezel with a complementary brown vintage cowhide strap and is restricted to 1962 pieces.
The second model is eminently feminine with a shimmering, marginally raised dial studded with eight Top Wesselton diamonds, a white cutting edge clay bezel and fine knit metal Milanese band.
The HyperChrome Captain Cook 37 mm is water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet.
The individuals who prefer to wear additional imposing watches, or have bigger wrists, can opt for the 45 mm model whose case is made from grade 5 titanium with a turning bezel enhanced by an innovative ceramic insert.
The 45 mm version is offered in three dial/bezel combinations – blue, brown or dark – and can be coordinated to material or calfskin straps just as to a metal arm band. Water resistance is 200 meters/660 feet.
The movement of decision for all models is the 4 Hz ETA C07.611 automatic movement with date at 3 o’clock and up to 80 hours power hold.
Prices start at around Euro 1,900/US$ 1,800. rado.com
